Co-Executive Director of Positive Money, Fran Boait, has announced she will be stepping down from the post at the end of 2024 following 11 years of leading the organisation.

Positive Money’s Board and leadership team have agreed a clear transition plan that will include recruiting a Co-Executive Director over the summer. Fran will remain in her position as Co-Executive Director of Positive Money until an appointment has been made and will work closely with Paul Delaney, the Co-Executive Director of Positive Money UK, Vicky Van Eyck, Executive Director of Positive Money EU, and Positive Money’s UK, EU, and US Boards to ensure there is a smooth transition to new leadership.

Sian Williams, Chair of Positive Money UK, said:

Fran’s contribution to making Positive Money a sustainable influencer with significant international reach has been immeasurable. Under her leadership, we launched first Positive Money EU and then Positive Money US and helped shift the public narrative about how central bank culture and decision-making directly affect the well-being of both people and the planet.

I am also deeply grateful to Fran for building a strong, shared leadership model so that her departure will have the least possible impact on our work.  We will miss Fran’s clarity of vision and immense intellect at Positive Money. Still, we know that her ability to build powerful partnerships for positive change will continue to make a difference in shaping a fairer, more sustainable world and we are excited about what the future holds for her.

Fran Boait, Co-Executive Director of Positive Money, said:

‘Building and leading Positive Money has been an incredible journey over the last decade. Taking the organisation from a small pressure group emerging from the Occupy movement to an established international think tank and NGO has definitely been a lot of hard work, and I’m very grateful to all the amazing people I’ve got to work with along the way.

It has been a journey of growth, and change, both organisationally and personally, and the organization is in a strong place, with great leadership and a great team, and ready for a new leader to join and support taking it into the next phase.’

Paul Delaney, Co-Executive Director of Positive Money said:

‘It’s been a privilege to work with Fran over the last seven years, and to have worked together as Co-Executive Directors since 2022. Fran has been instrumental in bringing Positive Money to where it is today as a leading international NGO.

I’m grateful to Fran for her leadership and for everything I’ve learned from her. It’s testament to how she has built the organisation that she leaves behind a strong group of leaders and an excellent staff team. We will miss her enormously and know she will continue to be an important part of the new economy movement. I’ll be working closely with our Board and other senior people to recruit a new leader into the organisation later this year.’
