Positive Money Europe Annual Report 2025

This report looks at the work we have done, as an organisation, throughout 2025 - a year in which mainstream political priorities shifted decisively toward security and competitiveness, and existential threats to democracy, human rights and the climate multiplied in plain sight.

Despite this challenging backdrop, our team of 11 punched above its weight. We consolidated our position as a leading, recognised voice on the digital euro - engaging directly with ECB Executive Board members, the European Parliament's rapporteur, and shadow rapporteurs across political groups, while producing explainer content and myth-busting videos to counter misinformation on the topic.

We also saw one of our longest-running campaigns bear fruit: in July 2025, the European Central Bank announced changes to its collateral framework directly inspired by our research on greening the ECB's operations, developed in partnership with WWF. The ECB will now assess the climate risk of corporate bonds used by banks as collateral, a historic move that penalises polluters and pressures the banking sector to invest in sustainable businesses.

Alongside this, we deepened our work connecting monetary policy to inequality, co-led a coalition of experts and civil society organisations campaigning for a sustainable ECB, and broadened our alliances - working alongside the renewable energy industry and consumer organisations to build the case for a fairer, more sustainable economic and monetary system. Internally, we strengthened our commitment to anti-oppression and equity, developing practical tools to embed these values across our work.

The numbers tell part of the story: 65 media mentions across 48 international outlets, 25 meetings with MEPs, 34 meetings with other major stakeholders, and 9 joint letters co-signed.

None of these numbers would be possible without your support. Behind every stat is our team's work and our shared determination to stand up for the common good, fighting for the interests of the public, not the elites.
