Andrew Bailey named as next BoE governor: Positive Money response

by David Clarke

Responding the appointment of Andrew Bailey as Bank of England governor, David Clarke, head of policy at Positive Money said:

“We congratulate Andrew Bailey on his appointment as Bank of England governor. He will guide the Bank through a period of profound change, as the financial system adapts to a world shaped by the climate emergency, rising inequality and technological transformation.

“As chief executive of the FCA, he played an important role in developing the regulator’s response to the climate crisis, and we hope he will make this issue his first priority as governor.

“The Bank of England’s cooperation is essential in the fight against climate change, and Andrew Bailey must build on the work of his predecessor, to ensure that markets are aligned with the Paris climate goals as quickly and smoothly as possible.”
