10 Years On activists take to Threadneedle Street

by Nonhlanhla Makuyana

On Sunday 9th September, 10 Years On from the financial crisis, activists descended on the City of London to declare major bank branches and the Bank of England ‘financial crime scenes’.

10 years ago, banks’ reckless lending wreaked havoc on the global economy and the Treasury spent billions in public funds bailing them out. The banks have escaped unpunished from scandal after scandal, not learning the necessary lessons to avoid sleepwalking us into another crisis. And our politicians are letting this happen. What is more ridiculous is that the Big Four UK Banks have paid out over £50 billion in bonuses since the crash whilst the government have cut £50bn from our schools and hospitals.

10 years On activists took to Threadneedle Street to say enough to one rule for banks and another for the rest of us.

Together we’re demanding our politicians  #ChangeFinance before we find ourselves in another crisis that our communities cannot afford and do not deserve.

Please join us this Saturday 15th at our #ChangeFinance rally where we’ll be joined by John McDonnell MP, Molly Scott Cato MEP and Paul Mason plus many more.

The Banks got bailed out, while we got sold out!

Join us to #ChangeFinance now.
