SAVE THE DATE: Saturday 29thOctober

On October 29th we’ll holding a conference in London for 350 activists and supporters. The working title is “How to Save the Country from the Banks (and save the banks from themselves)”. We’ll be showing how our banking system is at the root of most of the problems we face today, and exactly what we need to do to change it – both in terms of the reforms we need to implement, and the campaigning that we need to do before the authorities will make these changes.

We’ll leave the academic discussion aside and focus on the real human impact of this banking system. There’ll be a real life simulation, with everyone in the room, showing how the system leaves the vast majority of people in debt and poverty. We’ll be involving the NGOs and charities that are trying to tackle the issues caused by the debt-based monetary system – such as poverty, debt, inequality, environmental breakdown and economic chaos. We’re also expecting a couple of MPs (from both left and right wing) advocating for fundamental reform of banking system.

And there’ll be some unexpected comedy too.

Registration isn’t open yet, but you can get on the priority list for reserving a space by replying to this email. We’ll then make sure you get advanced notice when booking opens.

Meetups

Last week on 20th July we had the first Positive Money Meetups – one in London (around 50 people attending) and one in Glasgow (with nearly 20 people). If you attended, please let us know how we should improve the meetings next month, by leaving a comment on the blog here.

Several people are organizing local meetups in other cities and towns around the country, so once we know the time and place of these, we will let you know.

If you are willing to organize one, let us know by sending us a short email. Then once you find a convenient venue and set up the date, we will send the invitations to all people in your area and help you to promote the meetup.

New video “All About the Money” is now available with English subtitles. It’s now easier also for those who speak English as a second language to understand.

If you are willing to translate the video to some other language, please let us know by email to info@bsd.wpenginepowered.com. We can give you the full English text, and Google translate will do the bulk of the work.

HELP WANTED!

We need an ARTIST/ ILUSTRATOR/ ANIMATOR who could chip in a bit of time to help us make drawings for our new videos (something similar to popular “Story of stuff” – btw. worth watching if you haven’t yet). If you can help us with this, please let us know replying to this email. Or if you know somebody who could help, please forward him this request.
