Tim Jackson is Professor of Sustainable Development at the University of Surrey and Director of the Centre for the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity (CUSP). He also holds a Professorial Fellowship on Prosperity and Sustainability in the Green Economy (PASSAGE) funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). Tim’s research interests focus on the complex relationship between economic growth, wellbeing and sustainability.
Between 2004 and 2011, he was Economics Commissioner on the UK Sustainable Development Commission, where his work culminated in the publication of his controversial book Prosperity without Growth – economics for a finite planet (Routledge 2009/2016), subsequently translated into 18 foreign languages. In addition to his academic work, Tim is an award-winning dramatist with numerous radio writing credits for the BBC.
